Sioen Industries

Sioen is a world leader in technical textiles and innovates in sectors such as maritime safety, firefighting and construction. From its headquarters in Ardooie, more than 5,000 employees in 16 countries work every day on solutions that combine safety and sustainability. A large part of its production capacity is also located in Belgium.

Automation as an engine for efficiency

Just as Sioen innovates in textiles, it also innovates behind the scenes in production and IT. By bringing in consultant Tom, Itenium took the internal IT team to a higher level. He led the migration of legacy WinForms applications to a modern .NET-based internal application landscape.

His greatest achievement? The automation of the paint and coating supply on the production lines. Where robots manage multiple lines that continuously need timely replenishment of barrels, Tom’s application now handles automatic monitoring, planning and replenishment, without any manual intervention.
