On this assignment in the warehouse robotics world, you turn operational data from live robot systems into reliable evidence about system health and performance. This is no dashboard project: events arrive duplicated, delayed or incomplete, and are interpreted differently across software versions and site configurations. The solution runs close to the machines, mostly on-premise, while staying compatible with a future cloud-connected model, so you work on genuinely hard, real-world data engineering.

What you will do

  • Build reliable ingestion and processing pipelines from operational databases, APIs and event streams
  • Design for event time, duplicates, late or missing events, idempotency, reconciliation and replay
  • Model and transform data into versioned, tested datasets and implement the metric calculation logic
  • Make data quality, completeness, pipeline health and known limits observable instead of implicit
  • Package and deploy the data chain on on-premise infrastructure, contributing to upgrades, recovery, security and cloud connectivity
  • Investigate discrepancies with domain experts and guide the first customer pilots to working, explainable results

Experience

A medior data engineer with around 3-6 years of hands-on experience who can keep pipelines running in production.

Languages

Fluent professional English.

Hybrid work

To be agreed with the client, with work close to the machines on mostly on-premise infrastructure.

What you bring

Must have

  • Strong hands-on Python and SQL
  • Experience with event-driven or distributed data systems and keeping pipelines operational outside the development environment
  • Comfortable with Linux, containers, logs and networking
  • Disciplined use of Git, testing and CI/CD
  • Solid data modelling and data-platform or backend engineering with substantial data responsibility
  • Able to understand a physical process, learn an unknown domain and turn ambiguous operational behaviour into explicit engineering rules
  • A knack for working out why data did not arrive or is not trustworthy

Nice to have

  • Experience with industrial, IoT, edge or on-premise systems
